Walking Alongside Families on the Path to Healing

Walking Alongside Families on the Path to Healing
At Radiance, we understand that experiences of control, violence, and abuse within the family can leave deep impacts, not just on individuals, but on relationships as a whole. Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in connection, in safety, and with the right supports in place.
That’s why our Family Support Programs are designed to support children, youth, and parents together as they navigate the effects of trauma and begin to rebuild a sense of stability, trust, and well-being. These programs offer our families a chance to explore their experiences, strengthen attachment, and develop healthy relationship skills at a pace that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.
A Whole-Family Approach to Healing
At Radiance, we believe it is critical that children do not go through services alone. Children are deeply connected to their caregivers, and meaningful healing often happens when parents and children learn and grow side by side.
For this reason, we offer Family Support Programs that support both the parent and child as individuals, as well as through combined parent-child programs and therapeutic session.
Our Family Support Team strives to help families feel some relief sooner rather than later, while also supporting long-term growth and resilience.
Parenting Supports
Parenting after family violence can feel overwhelming, especially while managing your own healing and your child’s big emotions. Our Parenting Supports offer guidance, coaching, and reassurance through one-on-one or group programs. These supports focus on building confidence, strengthening skills, and helping parents feel supported in their role.
ATTACH™
ATTACH™ is a program designed for parents, caregivers and educators to foster deeper communication and connection with a child by better understanding their behaviours and mental states. ATTACH™ sessions are led by Radiance staff trained in the program, involving both the parent and child. It focuses on building reflective functioning: helping parents understand their own emotions while tuning in to their child’s needs. The goal is to strengthen the parent–child bond, support secure attachment, and equip parents with practical tools for everyday life.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy provides children who have experienced family trauma or abuse with a safe, developmentally appropriate way to express emotions and process experiences when words are hard to find. At Radiance, therapy is offered through one-on-one sessions for children ages 6–12 (with some flexibility based on developmental needs). Through play, children explore feelings, build coping skills, and gain understanding in a supportive, natural way.
Theraplay
Theraplay is a parent–child therapy that strengthens attachment and connection through therapist-guided, adult-led interactions. The parent is the primary client, supported to create experiences that build trust and security. Suitable for children ages 2 and up, Theraplay focuses on four key areas: Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge, to promote connection, safety, joy, and healthy emotional development.
Walking Alongside Families
At Radiance, our Family Support Programs are about more than addressing past harm, they’re about creating space for hope, healing, and reconnection. We walk alongside families as they take steps toward healing, together.
