Once again, Radiance Family Society brought the spirit of the Calgary Stampede to our shelter. This annual celebration gives families an opportunity to participate in a beloved Calgary tradition together in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
For families staying in shelter, attending large public events may not always feel accessible or comfortable. By bringing Stampede festivities directly to Radiance, we create a celebration where families feel secure, supported and build positive core memories with families sharing the joyous experience together.
This year’s event was our biggest yet! Families gathered together and enjoyed food, live music and activities for all ages. Face painting, bubbles and a photo booth added to the fun, while Elder Cheryle Chagnon-Greyeyes shared live music that brought warmth and energy to the celebration.
Community Spotlight: OnSite I.T.
OnSite I.T. played an important role in making the morning possible by generously providing and cooking a delicious pancake breakfast for families. This has become an annual event for their team who help create the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes this annual event so special.
More than simply serving breakfast, OnSite I.T.’s involvement demonstrated the meaningful impact local businesses can have when they come together to support families in their community. We are deeply grateful for their continued generosity, time and care.
A Sweet Treat from Righteous Gelato
Righteous Gelato also helped make the celebration extra special by donating refreshing Sorbetto Bars. The frozen treats were a perfect addition to a summer Stampede celebration—and they disappeared quickly!
Their thoughtful contribution brought an extra moment of joy to the morning and gave families a delicious treat to enjoy together. We sincerely appreciate Righteous Gelato’s generosity and commitment to supporting our Radiance community.
At Radiance, we know that opportunities for celebration, connection and fun are an important part of healing. Events like this allow families to step away from the challenges they are facing, experience a sense of belonging and create positive memories together.
Thank you to OnSite I.T., Righteous Gelato, Elder Cheryle Chagnon-Greyeyes and all the wonderful volunteers who made this year’s event possible. Your care and generosity helped bring Stampede spirit to Radiance while creating a morning filled with safety, connection and joy.
